You need to increase levels of growth hormone and you also need a trigger to release it into your tissues. The trigger is the mineral, zinc.

Zinc helps over 100 enzymes function properly. But your body needs zinc to be able to transport and secrete growth hormone. In fact, you need a sufficient amount of zinc in order to get a boost of growth hormone into your tissues.

Many older adults in the U.S. are deficient.  You can get zinc from food - oysters, lamb, turkey, beef. But Dr. Al Sears, anti-aging specialist, recommends you get 100 mg a day in the form of a supplement. Also, he recommends staying away from high fructose corn syrup since it can cause zinc deficiency.
